Health logs that save straight to Apple Health

FitRest gives you four simple logs - water, caffeine, blood glucose and blood pressure - plus a guided breathing practice. Each entry takes a few taps, can be back-dated, and can be saved to Apple Health so the rest of your health data stays in one place.

What you can log in FitRest

FitRest's scores are built from what your Apple Watch and iPhone measure on their own. Some of the things that shape how you feel, though, only get recorded if you write them down: how much you drank, how much caffeine you had and when, and readings from a glucose meter or a blood pressure cuff. The health logs cover exactly those gaps.

Each log has its own screen with a timeline for the selected day, a trends view over 7, 30 or 90 days or a custom range, and a short explainer for the numbers it shows. The Dashboard carries a card for each one, so today's total or latest reading is visible without opening anything.

  • Water - a daily goal, an amount ladder in ml or oz, container presets and a Timing Consistency score.
  • Caffeine - a drink library plus your own drinks, a daily limit you choose, and an estimate of what is still in your system.
  • Blood glucose - mg/dL or mmol/L, a meal context on every reading, and time-in-range trends.
  • Blood pressure - systolic and diastolic in mmHg, a labelled category for each reading, and variability over time.
  • Breathing Practice - three guided patterns, saved to Apple Health as Mindful Minutes.

Why logging the small things matters

Hydration, caffeine, blood sugar and blood pressure all change through the day, and memory is a poor record of any of them. A cup of coffee at 4 PM feels unremarkable until you notice your sleep is lighter on those days. A blood pressure number on its own says little; ten readings taken at the same time each morning say much more. Writing entries down as they happen turns a vague impression into a pattern you can actually see.

Logging also gives you something concrete to share. If you ever discuss hydration, caffeine habits, glucose or blood pressure with a doctor, a dated list of readings is far more useful than a rough guess. FitRest is not a medical device, and nothing in the logs is meant to diagnose anything - talk to a doctor about any reading that concerns you.

Save to Apple Health and read from other apps

Every log type has a Save to Apple Health toggle. When it is on, each entry you make in FitRest is written to Apple Health, where other apps you use can see it too. A finished breathing session is saved as Mindful Minutes. FitRest reads your health data to build your insights and only writes the entries you log yourself.

It works the other way as well. Water, caffeine, glucose or blood pressure that another app or device saves to Apple Health shows up in FitRest's timelines, tagged External. Those entries count toward your totals, but they can only be deleted in the app that made them, so your records never get out of step.

Log from wherever you are

A floating + button on the Dashboard opens a quick-log menu with Breathing Practice, Water, Caffeine, Glucose and Blood Pressure. The water card on the Dashboard has its own amount ladder and Add button, so a glass of water is one tap. The Blood Sugar and Blood Pressure cards are hidden by default and can be turned on in Customize.

On Apple Watch there are dedicated Water, Caffeine, Glucose and Blood Pressure pages, and the Water and Caffeine complications open straight to their log page. On the iPhone Home Screen, the Water Quick Add widget logs a drink without opening the app on iOS 17 and later, and there are small and medium widgets for each log.

Every log screen has a When? time picker, so a reading you forgot to enter this morning can be logged with the right time. Log screens follow the day selected in the app, which makes filling in yesterday just as easy.

Reminders and export

Settings > Notifications has a reminder set for each log: water, caffeine, glucose, blood pressure and breathing. Each one offers quick presets plus your own custom times, and any time can be removed with a swipe. Caffeine also has a Late Caffeine Warning tied to a cutoff time you choose.

Each log screen has an export button that opens Export Data. It covers the last 30 days of that log, shows a summary of how many entries are included, and lets you pick a Text File with stats, a spreadsheet-ready CSV File, or a PDF Document with stats that is easy to print or attach to an email.

How to use it

  1. 1Tap the + button on the Dashboard whenever you drink, have caffeine or take a reading, so entries carry the real time.
  2. 2Turn on Save to Apple Health for each log you use, so the entries are available to every health app on your iPhone.
  3. 3Set a reminder for the readings you tend to forget, such as a morning blood pressure check or a mid-afternoon glass of water.
  4. 4Add the Water Quick Add widget to your Home Screen, or use the Water page on Apple Watch, for one-tap logging.
  5. 5Before an appointment, open the log and export the last 30 days as a PDF to bring along.
