Lock Screen widgets

The Lock Screen set covers the numbers you are most likely to want at a glance when you pick up your phone: Health Summary, Body Battery, Recovery, Sleep Quality, Stress, Exertion and Steps. Health Summary is a rectangular widget that combines several numbers. The others each come in circular, inline and rectangular styles, so you can fit a ring beside the clock or a line of text above it.

Log water from the Home Screen

Water Quick Add is an interactive medium widget. It shows today's water against your goal, a row of amounts using the same ladder as the app, and an Add button. On iOS 17 and later you pick an amount and tap Add to log a drink straight from the Home Screen, and the entry saves to Apple Health like any other water log, so your daily total, the app and your other widgets all stay in step. On iOS 16 the widget opens FitRest instead so you can log there.

Why widgets help

Most of what improves health is small and repeated: going to bed on time, drinking enough, easing off on days your body is tired. Those choices are easier when the information is in front of you instead of inside an app you have to remember to open. A Recovery or Body Battery widget on your Home Screen turns a morning check into something you see dozens of times a day without trying.

Widgets also make patterns obvious. A weekly water or caffeine widget shows at a glance whether today is on track, and the Stress and Body Battery Last 24 Hours widgets show the shape of your day, not just a single number.

Widgets read from the same Apple Health data as the app, so what you see matches the Dashboard. Scores that depend on overnight heart data, such as Recovery, Stress and Body Battery, need a watch worn to bed; steps and logs work from iPhone alone.

How to use it

  1. 1Touch and hold an empty area of your Home Screen, tap Edit or the + button, search for FitRest, choose a widget and size, then tap Add Widget.
  2. 2For the Lock Screen, touch and hold the Lock Screen, tap Customize, choose the Lock Screen, tap the widget area and pick a FitRest widget.
  3. 3Put Recovery or Vitals Overview on your first Home Screen page for a morning check without opening the app.
  4. 4Add Water Quick Add next to the apps you open most so logging a drink takes a tap or two.
  5. 5Stack several FitRest widgets of the same size on top of each other to save space and swipe between them.

Widgets: questions and answers

Does FitRest have iPhone widgets?

Yes. There are 31 Home Screen widgets and 7 Lock Screen widgets covering scores, heart rate, HRV, steps, sunlight, water, caffeine, glucose and blood pressure.

Can I log water from a widget?

Yes. The Water Quick Add widget lets you log a drink from the Home Screen on iOS 17 and later. On iOS 16 it opens the app instead.

How do I add a FitRest widget to my Lock Screen?

Touch and hold the Lock Screen, tap Customize, choose your Lock Screen, tap the widget area and pick a FitRest widget such as Recovery, Body Battery or Steps.

Why is my widget showing no score?

Widgets use the same Apple Health data as the app. Scores like Recovery and Stress need heart data from a watch worn overnight, and FitRest needs read access to that data in the Health app.

FitRest reads the data already in Apple Health, so there is nothing to set up beyond granting access.
